When we were teenagers, my friend and I used to save the āLove Isā comic from the newspaper each week. They were sweet little cartoons about everyday secular loving and living š„°. But in 1 Corinthians 13, the Bible tells us what real, holy, unconditional love is. āļø Today, I'm focusing on a small portion of one verse, so we can make a simple but not so easy change in our lives. . . . [Love] keeps no record of wrongs.

This verse is about God's forgiveness . . . an unconditional forgiveness that forgets. That list of wrongs you have on paper? Burn it. Spewing wrongs out of your mouth? Zip it. Wrongs racing through your head? Forget it. All of it. Now for the simple, but hard exercise for today: Replace the List of Wrongs about her/him with a List of Rights about her/him. Unconditional love is . . . HOLY AMNESIA. (Yeah, I just made that one up, but it will remind me of God's standard, so I'm sticking with it!) š LET'S PRAY Heavenly Father, Though I don't deserve it, through my faith in Your Son as my Lord and Savior, You forgive and forget all my wrongs. You keep no lists. I want my life to reflect You. I want to live a life with Holy Amnesia. Please eliminate every bit of bitterness, any remnant of rebellion, all reminders of resentment, and any glimmer of a grudge from my heart, my words, my thoughts, and my actions. Please help me see people in my orbit as You see them and unconditionally extend mercy, grace, forgiveness, and love just as You do. In Your Son's Name, Amen My dear, Reader, Who do you need to write a List of Rights for today? If you want some accountability, feel free to reply to this email and share that you wrote a list or share the list (without names, of course). I pray that this exercise will help reduce the stress that unforgiveness causes and will help you realign your life with God's standard and promises. He loves you unconditionally.
