Pondering a list of God's answered prayers

In my last post, I talked about creating a List of Rights about someone or something rather than keeping a List of Wrongs. [Love] keeps no record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13:5d NIV During my prayer time this week, I realized that Iāve been keeping a different kind of List of Wrongs. I call it the List of Gone Wrongs, as in, this and that have gone wrong. I donāt know about you, but when Iām in a spiritual valley, I notice everything that goes wrong. Nothing gets past me! I was feeling like each wrong was another mile marker on my walk along a dark, deserted highway in the middle of nowhere. After a while, I even started to expect more frequent mile markers. (I guess they'd be called half-mile or quarter-mile markers, wouldn't they?) When I started to anticipate the next thing that would go wrong rather than the next thing that God would make right, I knew I needed time in my prayer closet. The Bible tells us how to consider the future: Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:24 NIV
In other words, I didn't need to anticipate quarter-mile markers. Future Michelle will care about tomorrowās trouble. And God will be right there by her side when trouble comes. The Bible also tells us how to think about the past: I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work,
and meditate on your mighty deeds. Psalm 77:11-12
Oof. That was convicting. So in my prayer closet, I considered the mile markers in this spiritual valley and pondered His mighty deeds. Guess what I found? A whole lot more answered prayers than I thought I would! You see, I was so focused on the next difficult, dark, lonely quarter-mile marker ahead of me that I didnāt take time to consider the past mile markers that God had supernaturally uprooted with answered prayers. Thatās not trusting God. Thatās not honoring God. Thatās not walking with God. To be perfectly honest, thatās sin. Itās also not how I normally live my life. One of my constant prayers this year has been, Lord, I expect that Youāll answer my prayer, but Iāll still be in awe when you do! Michelle 24:7 That's not just a mantra to me. That's my worldview. Be on the lookout for God. Always. #BOLO4G If you find yourself in a spiritual valley, spend some time with God and ponder all that He has done. Create a List of Made Rights. Meditate on the things He has made right and good and true. You might just be surprised about how diligently Heās been working on your behalf! To God goes all the glory! And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

LET'S PRAY Heavenly Father, Please forgive my sin of not trusting you with my past, present, and future. Thank you for second chances and new mercies every morning. Thank you for sending your Son to make a way for me to live with you for eternity. I know the highway in this valley is not deserted. You've been walking every mile with me. Your Light has guided my every step. You will never leave nor forsake me. I am not alone. You are so faithful. And thank you for loving me enough to answer, with mercy and grace, so many of my prayers. I will not ask You for anything else, Lord. Instead, I will ponder your List of Made Rights in this valley. I will meditate on your mighty deeds. And I will remind myself that you are my sovereign Lord and Savior. As I mentioned in last week's email, I'm reading a chapter a day in the Book of Luke as is my tradition each December. Any time I read the Bible, I learn something new or recall something that I've heard but have forgotten. This week was no different. In Luke chapter 2, Jesus is presented at the temple.
